Rotary and Rotaract clubs in Europe and around the world have taken swift action and are working with members nearby to provide food, water, medical equipment, and shelter for refugees.
The Rotary Foundation created a funding channel for relief efforts in Ukraine.

Rotaract Europe
The European Rotaract Information Centre, a multidistrict information organization that serves Rotaractors all over Europe, created a United for Peace site that compiles information for refugees and volunteers.
The site offers information about free rail, bus, and air transportation available to refugees and lists details about what’s needed and how to help at specific national borders.
It also has fundraising details for hospitals in the western Ukraine city of Lviv, as well as for clubs that are helping in various places and for other organizations in the region.
The site lets Rotaractors coordinate shelter for refugees stranded at the border. Volunteer hosts can sign up through an online form and specify how many people they can house and for how long. Begun as an initiative to help fellow Rotary members leaving Ukraine, it’s now being used by Rotaract and Rotary members all over Europe to offer help.
A tool on the site links a demand for goods with available supplies. It was created within 48 hours after a team of 60 members from 10 countries met by videoconference about how to meet the most urgent needs.

Ukraine has 62 Rotary clubs and six satellite clubs with about 1,100 members, and 24 Rotaract clubs with more than 300 members.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke! You may have found this page as you were looking for a club near you, or as a current member checking in. Either way, you are in the right place.
Our club is growing and making a difference in the communities we serve. You can be a part of that! We have fun weekly meetings with interesting programs. Come join us for lunch on Thursdays at the Ranch House Grill at Brewery at SaddleBrooke Ranch.
As you can see from this site, we have many volunteer opportunities if hands on projects are what you are looking for. From highway clean-up, painting crews, to meal deliveries, our club is continually looking for ways to serve.

Youth on Their Own
Brittany Smith is the Development Manager of Communication & Events at Youth On Their Own. Originally from Southwest Michigan, she held positions at the University of Missouri and the Chicago History Museum before making her way west to the Old Pueblo in 2020.
The 2022 Inspiration in the Desert featuring Diana Madaras was a smashing success. Over 170 guests attended at the beautiful Saddlebrooke Ranch Ballroom on Saturday, April 9th. Guests were treated to a truly inspiring presentation by Diana. Her presentation included a wonderful video as well as a large selection of photos of her beautiful art works. Each guest received a gift of cards from Diana at registration.
Our committee of volunteers did an outstanding job of planning, organizing, and hosting the 3 hour event.

President, Liese Razzeto served as Emcee and did a fantastic job keeping the program lively and interesting. President Elect Gordon Wainwright introduced Liese to start the program.
The celebration included a Gallery Trunk Show featuring art by Diana Madaras and guest artists of the Gallery, as well as Southwest gifts, Southwest holiday cards, jewelry, and more.
Artist Diana Madaras says, "Painting fills me with joy." She is equally well known for her bold, colorful Southwest art as for her generous charitable giving. Madaras owns the gallery in Tucson, Arizona that features her work, and she is president of the non-profit Art for Animals Foundation, a charity she founded in 1999 to help abused, injured, and orphaned animals.
Madaras is a colorist who celebrates the subtle, natural beauty of ordinary scenes in a way that is both intense and dramatic. She paints in both watercolor and acrylic and has a diverse portfolio — from brilliant desert landscapes to expressionistic portraits. A signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, Madaras has been featured in a dozen one-woman shows, and her art has hung in the Tucson Museum of Art. She was named the featured artist of the Empire Ranch 100 Show in 2009.
Much in demand for commissioned artwork, Madaras has completed paintings for Westin, Loews, and Miraval Resorts. She also has created 8 paintings for the estate of the former President of Mexico. Her painting, The Blues at Old Main, was commissioned for the cover of the University of Arizona Alumni Magazine and her art has appeared on the covers of 6 other magazines, including Art Book of the West and Tucson Lifestyle.
Madaras is very active in community service, and her art has benefited more than 100 charities. "I believe that when you have a wonderful, fortunate life, it's important to give back and help others who need a hand up," she said. In 2008, her art show African Sojourn raised $80,000 for charity. The show followed a safari to South Africa and Botswana, a trip the artist describes as an unforgettable adventure. "If I can help animals and people through art, there's nothing better."

Former Saddlebrooke Rotary Club Member Joe Jones passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Joe was an outstanding Rotarian who was especially dedicated to serving the youth in our community.
Joe served Saddlebrooke Rotary as Treasurer, Youth Services coordinator, and Board Member. He was a leader in Rotary Youth Exchange and the 4 Way Speech Contest.
Please keep his wife, Marilee and his family in your prayers.

Saddlebrooke Rotary joined the Oracle Community Center on Monday, March 21 to prepare and serve meals to all guests. This was our second time to serve meals. Not only was it a generous outreach but it will be a lot of fun for the participants.
Linda Bradner, one of our Amigos, is embarking on a year-long project to make lap quilts and kids’ quilts for our Club to give as Christmas gifts to low-income families. She is collecting used blankets and flannel sheets to use as batting inside the quilts. The blankets will be totally invisible in the quilts, so it’s okay if they are stained, have holes, and are thin and ragged. Linda just had two requests: Please wash blankets prior to donating, and please remove wires from electric blankets.

Saddlebrooke Rotarians joined together with many volunteers from the Oracle community to help beautify American Avenue in Oracle. Working with the Oracle Community Center 37 volunteers pulled 48 bags of trash from American Ave today! Thanks to all the individuals, organizations, and businesses who participated to help us Keep It Clean!

Our Community Services Committee has volunteered to patch walls and paint the Impact suite in the strip mall at 15930 N. Oracle in Catalina. This weekend a crew consisting of Bill and Diane Demeroutis, Chris Millar, Gordon Wainwright, and Ed Lueck began patching and prepping the walls.
At the club meeting on January 27th, 2020-2021 Rotary District 5500 Governor, Diane Ventura-Goodyear presented the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke with the Rotary Citation for Rotary year 2020-2021. The Rotary Citation is awarded to clubs for achieving Goals include increasing club membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in your community.
Past Presidents Barbara Barr and Joe Guyton receive for the club the Rotary Citation from 2020-2021 District Governor Diane Ventura-Goodyear.
PDG Diane also recognized the club with an achievement award for its contribution to the 2020-2021 Rotary Polio Plus Campaign. Tom Turriff, the Chairman of the annual campaign was not present to receive the award but Club President, Liese Razzeto and riders in the most recent Ride to End Polio received it for the Club.

Saddlebrooke Rotary members partnered with the Oracle Community Center to purchase, assemble and distribute 25 baskets to Home Alone seniors in the Oracle area.
Baskets were assembled by Members of Oracle community center, OWN and a member from Home Alert who evaluated the needs of the home bound seniors.
The baskets contained:
Apples Oranges Mugs Hot chocolate Popcorn Knitted slipper socks Soap Lotion Lip balm Dish towels Ghiradelli chocolate
Barbara Barr, Linda Howard and Diane Demeroutis made cookies. Bill Demeroutis did double duty as a Club member and also a Board member of the Oracle Community Center. Bill and Liese Razzeto shopped with $400.00 donated by the SaddleBrooke Rotary Club Foundation for the goodies.
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke made a major donation of books to the Mountain Vista Elementary School in Oracle.
Over 700 new age-appropriate books were delivered by Rotarians to Mountain Vista for their upcoming Summer Youth Program.
