Our new FFK chair, Gordon Wainwright, has hit the ground running!  He has hosted his first planning meeting with Eric Erickson, Leslie Hawkins, Paul Herr, Joe Guyton, and Wendy Guyton.  Gordon and Paul have  been checking out several locations to host the fundraiser.  Stay tuned for more details! Thanks to Gordon and his committee for all their hard work!

I'd tell you that Elaine Terry just can't catch a break, but this week husband Don fell and broke his ankle.  The good news is that Don's break is a "clean" break and he is able to get around with a boot.  Have a speedy recovery, Don!

We will have hosts for our grant recipients at our meeting on Thursday, May 30.  Many thanks to Barbara Barr, Bob Christadore,  Paul Herr, Joe Jones, Doug May, and Gary Terrill who have volunteered to host our grant recipients. Thanks for volunteering to host our guests!

Chris Millar has been spoiling Christiann while she recovers from back surgery. Wishing Christiann a speedy recovery!

IMPACT of Southern Arizona thanked volunteers with a luncheon. Attending the luncheon were Neil Deppe, Joe Dylewski, Elaine Terry, Don Terry, George Corrigan, and Ann Corrigan.

Emerson Knowles has now finished two weeks of his eight week course in radiation treatments for reoccurring prostate cancer.  Emerson says there are no physical side effects but the drives downtown, back and the rigmarole of the machine are very trying.  He is hopeful that they are radiating in the right place and when over this, will be behind him for good. Keep us informed on your progress, Em!

Our snow birds might have flown the coop to beat the hot Arizona sun, but little did any of us expect such cool temperatures in Arizona during the month of May.  Meanwhile, two of our snowbirds escaped this beautiful weather only to find themselves in the "S" word - - snow!  Here's a photo from the Guyton's of their neighborhood in Pinetop!  Even though the Guyton's are in Pinetop, you'd never know it.  They are still working on things for the club and constantly on the phone or emailing with club business.  Thank  you, Joe and Wendy, for all your hard work!

Ed Treick reports that they safely made it to Wisconsin!  Ed's hip is causing a lot of pain, and he hopes to solve that problem this week!  Keep us up to speed on your progress, Ed!

Joe Dylewski was in Denver on business this week.  While he was there, Denver experienced the "S" word - - snow!  Hurry back, Joe!  We miss you!

Tom Turriff reports that he is safely back home. Tom has volunteered to be one of the two members that Rotary requires to take the grant training.  He has also offered to help write a grant.  The district grant deadline is July 15th, but grants need to be in as soon as possible.  Any great ideas for grants? Thank you, Tom!  We appreciate your offer to help while you are miles away from SaddleBrooke!

Sheila Tuhy is back in her lake house in Minnesota.  Even long distance, Sheila is still helping with programs until the end of the fiscal year.  Thank you, Sheila!

Doug May will be our liaison with our Interact Club next year!  Thank you, Doug.

Wendy Guyton is adding more to her already full plate!  She's offered to help with RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), our new fundraiser, and the golf tournament!  Thank you for your many contributions to so many things in our club, Wendy!

SAVE THE DATE!  THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5TH will be our Christmas Party.  Last year a number of people missed the party because they had already left the area for the Christmas holidays.  So we moved the party up one week earlier in hopes that EVERYONE can attend.  Most families have one person who is kind of the "Social Chairperson" for the family.  PLEASE pass this date along to your family "Social Chairperson" so you can make your travel plans around it!

We provide practical skills and the kind of learning that translates into lasting global and local change. Our Southern Arizona Day of Peace on April 6, 2019, will be memorable in many ways. Sessions will be active and experiential, not just lectures or speeches for a maximum of 150 participants including Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and community members. Leadership will be provided by the Outward Bound Center for Peacemaking in New York City, as well as by local leaders.
