Welcome New Member Bill Bengen

President Gordon Wainwright welcomes our newest members, Bill Bengen.  Bill's mentor will be John Oszust. 
 
Bill Bengen
Bill received a B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from M.I.T. and an M.S. from the College for Financial Planning and am a former licensee of the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation. He has had four careers: he trained as an aerospace engineer, CEO of his family's soft drink bottling firm (NY), fee-only financial advisor (CA), and is currently a financial researcher and aspiring novelist (AZ). 
 
In the early 1990s, in response to his client’s questions, he initiated research into the sustainability of retirement withdrawals from stock and bond portfolios, which resulted in the so-called "4% Rule." he has been quoted in many major financial publications on this topic. 
 
In 2006 Bill detailed his research in a book, "Conserving Client Portfolios During Retirement." In 2014 he received NAPFA's (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) Robert J. Underwood Distinguished Service Award.  In 2017 the Investment News Innovators Award, awarded to individuals "who have shaped and transformed the financial service profession was presented to Bill." 
 
Bill currently lives in SaddleBrooke, has served since 2021 as president of "United SaddleBrooke", he is presently a candidate for the SaddleBrooke HOA1 BOD in the November elections.  Bill is engaged to our member Barbara Barr and they are planning a spring wedding.
