In her free time, Ms. Akins, enjoys traveling and volunteering her time. She has attended trips with Habitat for Humanity to Honduras, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. She has also attended a trip with Mission 29.2 to Haiti to support children’s education. Locally, she has volunteered her time with Catalina Mountaineers 4H Club, coaching softball, and helping a Marana middle school with their after school garden club.
On Thursday, July 15 we enjoyed a presentation by Les and Leslie Brown and Stephen Argentati for Oracle Land and Homes. They gave us an update of the local real estate markets. A highlight of the presentation was a Trivia Game Card which served to find out just how much we know about the current real estate market in our communities.
Joe moved to Oro Valley after retiring from the United States Air Force in 2007 in the rank of lieutenant colonel.
A native of Kingston, PA Joe graduated in 1984 from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Course at Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also hold a master’s degree from Webster University in management.
As a current member of SaddleBrooke Rotary, Joe served as president from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. In addition to Rotary International, he volunteered on the board of directors of IMPACT of Southern Arizona and as the junior head coach for the Coronado Little League.
Marchelle L. Sellers is the founder of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families of children going through medical treatment nearby. Marchelle served as their Executive Director until 2008, and the house has now served over 16,000 families since opening.
In 2007, Marchelle was awarded Most Inspirational Executive Director of the Year by both the State Assembly and Senator's offices. She has been a Rotarian for 15 years and is the Past President of the South Pasadena Rotary Club. In 2015, 2018 and 2019 was awarded Rotarian of the Year. She is a past commissioner for the City of Pasadena's Accessibility & DisaMarchelle L.
